Lewknor School Governing Body

Our Christian Vision

At Lewknor C of E Primary School, the school community will work together to provide a nurturing school environment where all children are passionate about their learning and achieve their full potential. Caring for each other, caring for all aspects of children’s health and caring for our futures will be the bedrock of what we do. We will create an exciting and challenging curriculum which will give our children, like the wise man who built his house on rock, the foundations for a happy and successful life.

An Introduction from David George and James Pearce – Co-Chairs of Governors

On behalf of the Governing Body, we are pleased to welcome you to Lewknor C of E Primary School.

Lewknor is a fantastic school, which is reflected in the recent Ofsted and SIAMS inspections, and our aim as governors is to build on this and drive further improvement.  We are determined that pupils and the whole school community live out our values: be passionate, be caring, be healthy, be successful.

One of our key roles as Governors is to set the overall vision and ethos of the school.  We look to support the school in fulfilling its vision to provide a nurturing school environment where all children are passionate about their learning and achieve their full potential.

We also ensure the effective and efficient use of the school’s resources and hold the headteacher to account on the management of the school, offering guidance and an objective perspective.

The Governors believe that every year of primary school is crucial and that every child within each class should be taught in a way which allows them to make at least good progress.  We expect every child to be set appropriate and aspirational targets for their progress. We ensure that these are rigorously monitored.

Governors will support school staff in creating an exciting and challenging curriculum that gives our children the foundations for a happy and successful life.  We also want to ensure that the school provides a supportive and safe learning environment, where everyone cares for each other, caring for all aspects of children’s health, and caring for their futures.

If you wish to discuss any matters relating to the governance of the school, then do not hesitate to contact either of us via the school office.  Also, James, as a parent governor, is often at the ‘school gate’ at the start and end of the day.
